Having Your Earmold Impression Made
Every product that we make is customized specifically to the exact shape of the wearer’s ear canal. We do this by making an impression the ear canal using silicone, a process that takes only 5 minutes. The following is a step-by-step rundown of the impression procedure.

Step1: The ear is examined using an otoscope to make sure the canal is clear enough to make an accurate pattern. If there was an excessive amount of earwax, for example, we would not be able to make an impression until the wax was removed. (Wax occlusion is not a common issue; most people think that they have more wax in their ears than is really there).

Step 2: A small cotton or foam block is placed deep into the ear canal. The block does two things: it protects the eardrum during the silicone injection, and it ensures that the finished custom product will sit at a safe distance from the eardrum during normal use.

Step3: Silicone is injected into the ears. The silicone takes about 3 to 4 minutes to cure and then the impression is removed from the ear.

Step 4: The ear is re-examined to make sure the ear canal is once again clear.

Step5: The molds are sent to our lab where they are hand-crafted to order.
